Rebuild hydration from within
EXION Face is a needle-free treatment that delivers monopolar radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound together, with AI temperature control, to prompt your skin to make more of its own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. A course is usually 4 sessions, about 1 to 2 weeks apart, and most people return to their day straight afterwards.
Hyaluronic acid holds water in the skin and keeps it plump and smooth. The skin's own supply falls with age, which shows as dryness, fine lines and a loss of bounce. The EXION Face applicator emits monopolar radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound together. The radiofrequency gently warms the dermis, and the ultrasound acts on fibroblasts, the cells that make hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. Throughout the session an AI system reads how your skin responds and adjusts the energy to stay within the target temperature.
Your own hyaluronic acid
Aims to boost the skin's natural hyaluronic acid production rather than adding a filler.
No needles, quick recovery
Most people return to their day straight after; any pinkness usually settles within hours.
AI-controlled energy
Real-time monitoring keeps every pass consistent and comfortable.
How EXION Works
Two energies, delivered together, reach the dermis where fibroblasts live. In BTL's clinical data (a study reported by Duncan), skin measured after four treatments showed +224% hyaluronic acid, +47% collagen and +50% elastin.* *Manufacturer-reported study; individual results vary.
Monopolar radiofrequency
Warms the deeper dermis evenly, creating the controlled heat that switches fibroblasts on.
Targeted ultrasound (TUS)
Delivered alongside the radiofrequency to act on fibroblasts and support hyaluronic acid production.
Dynamic impedance AI
Reads skin impedance and temperature in real time and adjusts the energy to keep treatment in range.
Gradual, natural change
Changes build in the weeks after each session as the skin renews, so it still looks like your own skin.
Who is EXION Face for, and who should not have it?
A good option for early to moderate signs of skin ageing, especially if you would rather avoid needles.

Common Questions
Is EXION Face RF microneedling?+
No. The EXION treatment at RAAC uses the EXION Face applicator only, which is needle-free: it delivers monopolar radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound through the skin surface, so there are no punctures or microneedles. BTL also makes a separate fractional microneedling applicator, which we do not offer. If you are looking for RF microneedling, ask about Sylfirm X; your physician can explain how the two differ.
How many sessions and how far apart?+
A course is usually 4 sessions, about 1 to 2 weeks apart. Your physician may suggest maintenance sessions afterwards; the plan depends on your skin.
Is EXION Face worth it?+
It can be, if your main goal is skin quality, such as dryness, dullness, fine lines or early crepiness, and you want a needle-free option with little downtime. It does not lift sagging tissue or add volume, results build gradually over a course of about 4 sessions, are not permanent and vary between people. If laxity or volume loss is the main concern, another treatment may fit better; your physician advises after assessment.
Can EXION Face be combined with other treatments?+
Where appropriate, EXION can be combined with other treatments we offer, such as Thermage or Ultherapy, in one plan. If you have recently had fillers, threads or another energy treatment in the same area, tell us first so your physician can plan the timing.
Who should not have EXION Face?+
EXION is not used during pregnancy, and a pacemaker or metal implants in the treatment area rule it out. It is also not suitable over active infections, open wounds or recent sunburn. Tell us your medical history at the consultation and your physician will advise.
EMFACE vs EXION: which one?+
EXION Face combines radiofrequency with targeted ultrasound and is aimed at skin quality, such as hydration and fine lines. Emface combines radiofrequency with HIFES muscle stimulation to tone and lift the face. Your physician will recommend which suits your goals; see our Emface page for details.
Where can I get EXION Face near Vancouver?+
RAAC is at Unit 110, 5580 No. 3 Rd, Richmond, BC, about a 3-minute walk from Lansdowne Station on the Canada Line, so it is a direct train ride from Vancouver and easy to reach from Burnaby and across Greater Vancouver. Building parking is via Ackroyd Road. EXION Face consultations are available in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Is EXION Face the same as a filler?+
No. A filler adds volume by injection. EXION Face adds nothing to the skin; it aims to help your skin make more of its own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin, so changes are gradual.
How long does an EXION Face session take, and what does it feel like?+
A session usually takes about 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the areas treated, such as the eye area alone or the full face and neck. Most people describe a gentle, warm sensation; no needles are used and numbing cream is usually not needed. Allow extra time at your first visit for the consultation, skin preparation and gel removal afterwards.
When will I see EXION Face results, and how long do they last?+
Some people notice smoother, more hydrated-looking skin during the course, and changes keep developing for up to about 3 months after the last session. Results are not permanent; they are commonly described as lasting around 6 to 12 months, depending on age, skin and sun exposure. Daily sunscreen and gentle skincare help, and your physician suggests a maintenance plan once your course is complete.
Is there downtime, and what side effects are possible with EXION Face?+
Most people go straight back to their day. Side effects are usually mild and short-lived: pinkness, redness or warmth that fades within hours, and occasionally slight tenderness or swelling that settles within about a day. No needles are used, so there are no puncture marks. Contact the clinic if anything does not settle as expected.
How much does EXION Face cost in Richmond and Vancouver?+
The cost depends on the areas treated (for example the eye area alone, or full face and neck), the number of sessions in your plan, usually a course of 4, and any maintenance sessions afterwards. We do not publish prices online. After your consultation and physician assessment, you receive a written quote for the full plan your physician recommends.
