HydraPeel® ScalpMedical Scalp Reset

Physician-supervised deep cleansing, sebum extraction, and targeted serum infusion for a healthier scalp environment

HydraPeel® Scalp adapts proven HydraPeel technology for the scalp: a four-phase protocol that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts excess sebum, and infuses treatment serums into hair follicles. At RAAC Richmond, Dr. Charles Jiang (CPSBC, Medical Director) oversees each session. Appointments typically run 30–45 minutes with no required downtime, making it practical for busy Richmond and Greater Vancouver schedules.

What is HydraPeel® Scalp?

Medical-Grade Scalp Care

Unlike regular shampooing, HydraPeel® Scalp uses a Health Canada cleared device together with clinical serums to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the scalp in a single session. At RAAC Richmond, this protocol is supervised by Dr. Charles Jiang (CPSBC) and tailored to each patient's scalp profile — from excess sebum and dandruff to mild thinning and pre-treatment preparation for hair restoration procedures.

HydraPeel® Scalp delivers four sequential actions: cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and infuse. The extraction step physically removes excess sebum and follicular debris that ordinary washing misses. Post-extraction, the open follicular channels receive customized serums — including peptides and hydrating actives — with notably improved absorption. Many patients report a lighter, cleaner scalp sensation within days, with measurable improvements in scalp health typically observed over 2–4 weeks of regular sessions.

Sebum Extraction

Physically removes excess sebum and follicular debris that shampoo alone cannot reach, helping reduce oiliness and clogged follicles.

Scalp Exfoliation

Gently clears away corneocytes (dead skin cells) and buildup around follicular openings without disrupting the scalp's natural barrier.

Targeted Serum Infusion

Delivers customized serums — peptides, growth factors, and hydrating actives — into cleared follicular channels for enhanced absorption.

Clinical Protocol

How HydraPeel® Works

HydraPeel® Scalp uses a Health Canada cleared device with a dedicated scalp handpiece. The system combines controlled fluid vortex action with simultaneous suction to cleanse and extract, followed by pressurized serum delivery. This is a physician-supervised protocol at RAAC Richmond — not a spa service.

Vortex Cleanse & Extract

The scalp handpiece creates a closed vortex that loosens sebum plugs and follicular debris, then suctions them away — a physical extraction step not possible with manual washing.

Scalp Assessment

Dr. Jiang or a supervised clinician evaluates sebum levels, scalp inflammation, follicle density, and hair shaft condition to select the appropriate serum formulation and intensity.

Customized Serums

Serum selection is adjusted per session: anti-sebum actives for oily scalps, soothing peptides for irritated or color-treated scalps, or growth-support peptides for patients preparing for PRP-hair or exosome-hair.

Scalp Barrier Support

Unlike abrasive scrubs, the fluidic mechanism clears the scalp without compromising the acid mantle — important for patients with color-treated hair or a history of scalp sensitivity.

Is This Right for You?

Suitable For These Scalp Concerns

HydraPeel® Scalp is designed for a range of scalp conditions related to sebum overproduction, buildup, and follicular congestion. Dr. Jiang will assess your scalp during consultation and tailor the protocol accordingly. Individual responses vary.

Commonly Treated Concerns

  • +Oily scalp with rapid rebound — excess sebum (oil) production that returns quickly after washing
  • +Dandruff or flaking associated with follicular buildup or mild seborrheic conditions
  • +Dry, itchy, or mildly irritated scalp due to product residue or environmental factors
  • +Mild scalp thinning where optimizing the follicular environment may support hair health
  • +Pre-treatment scalp preparation before PRP-hair, exosome-hair, or other hair restoration procedures

Not Recommended If You Have

  • Active scalp infection (bacterial, fungal, or viral) — treatment must be resolved first
  • Recent chemical processing (perm or relaxer) within the past 2 weeks
  • Active alopecia areata flare with open or weeping lesions
  • Known allergy to any treatment serum ingredients — disclose at consultation
  • Pregnancy — consultation with Dr. Jiang required before proceeding
The RAAC Difference

Physician-Led Scalp Care in Richmond

RAAC is a physician-led clinic in Richmond, BC. Dr. Charles Jiang (CPSBC, Medical Director) brings a medical standard to every scalp treatment — including consultation, protocol selection, and follow-up. Asian hair characteristics (thicker shaft, oilier tendency) are factored into every session.

1

Dr. Charles Jiang, CPSBC

Medical Director and CPSBC-registered physician. Every HydraPeel® Scalp patient receives a physician assessment — not just a technician intake — ensuring the protocol matches your scalp condition and broader hair health goals.

2

Asian Hair Expertise

Asian hair tends to have a thicker shaft, oilier scalp tendency, and higher follicular density. Dr. Jiang's team adjusts extraction intensity and serum selection to suit these characteristics and to protect color-treated hair.

3

Scalp-First Hair Philosophy

Healthy hair begins with a healthy scalp. HydraPeel® Scalp pairs naturally with RAAC's PRP-hair and exosome-hair programs — clearing follicular channels so that growth-support treatments can absorb more effectively.

4

Mandarin & Cantonese Service

Dr. Jiang and the RAAC Richmond team communicate fluently in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese — ensuring Greater Vancouver's Chinese community can discuss concerns and care instructions without a language barrier.

Full-Scalp Coverage

Systematic Zone-by-Zone Treatment

The HydraPeel® scalp handpiece is worked methodically across all scalp regions. No area is skipped — a particular advantage over manual home care, which tends to neglect the nape and occipital regions.

Crown & Vertex

Often the first area to show thinning; receives concentrated serum infusion alongside standard cleanse and extract steps.

Temples & Hairline

High sebum-accumulation zone and a common site for follicular congestion; treated with adjusted extraction intensity.

Nape & Back

Frequently missed in daily washing; the protocol ensures full cleansing and serum delivery to this area.

Part Line

Exposed to UV and prone to product buildup along styling stress lines; addressed with targeted cleansing and barrier-support serum.

Occipital Region

Tends to accumulate heat and friction during sleep; benefits from thorough extraction and soothing serum infusion.

Scalp as a Whole

Comprehensive treatment ensures balanced sebum regulation and uniform follicular health across all regions.

What to Expect

Your HydraPeel® Scalp Appointment

A typical session runs 30–45 minutes from assessment through serum infusion. No special preparation is required beyond arriving with dry hair. Dr. Jiang or a supervised clinician will guide you through aftercare before you leave.

Before Your Appointment

1

Avoid heavy styling products (wax, strong-hold spray) for 24 hours before — they can interfere with extraction efficacy

2

Arrive with dry or minimally damp hair if possible; a pre-treatment rinse may be performed in-clinic if needed

3

Disclose any scalp sensitivities, allergies, recent chemical treatments (coloring, perming), or active skin conditions

4

Plan approximately 30–45 minutes for the full session including assessment

5

Inform us if you have had any scalp injections (PRP, exosomes, minoxidil) in the past two weeks

During Treatment

1

Scalp Assessment

Dr. Jiang or a supervised clinician evaluates your scalp — sebum levels, follicular condition, inflammation markers, and hair shaft characteristics — to finalize the serum protocol for your session.

2

Cleanse & Exfoliate

The HydraPeel® scalp handpiece is applied in systematic passes. A gentle exfoliating solution loosens corneocyte buildup and sebum plugs while the vortex action begins removing surface debris.

3

Sebum Extraction

Suction-assisted extraction physically removes loosened sebum, product residue, and follicular debris. Most patients describe mild warmth or gentle suction — not discomfort.

4

Serum Infusion

With follicular channels cleared, customized serums are infused under light pressure for deeper penetration. The session closes with a barrier-support step to stabilize the scalp.

After Your Appointment

1

Avoid washing hair for 24 hours to allow infused serums to absorb fully

2

When resuming washing, use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo for the first week

3

Avoid scratching, vigorous towel-rubbing, or mechanical scalp exfoliation for 48 hours

4

Avoid high-heat environments (sauna, steam room) for 48 hours post-treatment

5

Monthly maintenance sessions are typically recommended; Dr. Jiang may suggest more frequent sessions initially depending on scalp condition

View Before & After

*Results vary by individual. HydraPeel® Scalp is a scalp health protocol, not a hair regrowth treatment. Patients with androgenetic alopecia or other medical hair loss conditions should discuss a comprehensive plan with Dr. Jiang.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How often should I get HydraPeel® Scalp treatments?+

Monthly sessions are the standard starting point for most patients. Those with significantly oily scalps or high follicular buildup may benefit from bi-weekly sessions for the first 2–3 months before transitioning to monthly maintenance. Dr. Jiang will recommend a cadence based on your scalp assessment.

Can HydraPeel® Scalp help with hair thinning or hair loss?+

HydraPeel® Scalp is a scalp health treatment, not a hair regrowth therapy. By clearing follicular debris and improving scalp circulation, it creates a more favorable environment for hair follicles — which may support overall hair condition. It is not a substitute for medical hair loss treatment. For patients undergoing PRP-hair or exosome-hair at RAAC, scalp prep sessions may improve serum absorption. Individual results vary.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?+

Most patients describe the experience as a mild suction sensation with occasional warmth during the exfoliation phase. The treatment is generally well-tolerated. If you have a sensitive scalp, let the clinical team know — intensity and serum formulation can be adjusted.

Can I wash my hair the same day?+

We ask that you avoid washing for 24 hours after treatment to allow the infused serums to penetrate fully. When you do wash, use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and avoid hot water for the first wash.

How is this different from a scalp massage or salon treatment?+

HydraPeel® Scalp uses a Health Canada cleared device with active suction-extraction and pressurized serum delivery — mechanisms that are not available in salon-style scalp massages or steam treatments. The protocol is supervised by Dr. Charles Jiang (CPSBC) and uses clinical-grade serums not available over-the-counter.

Is there any downtime after HydraPeel® Scalp?+

No required downtime. Most patients return to regular activities immediately. You may notice the scalp feels slightly more sensitive or tingly for a few hours. Hair washing is the only restriction — wait 24 hours. Avoid saunas and intense heat for 48 hours.
